Zoo Icons

The assignment for this project was to create a series of signs for a zoo, to be used to direct visitors to the various animals. The signs had to be able to direct people of any age or language, so they could not have text. They also had to be visible from a distance.

For my signs, I went for a stylized approach, creating all the animals in portrait, and abstracting them heavily. I used the stylization to emphasize the unique aspects of each animal, enhancing the recognizability of the signs. The final image is a collection of twelve of these signs, covering most animal groups that would be featured at a zoo.
