DeMoss Hallway Project

For this project, my group was required to create an design for a hallway in our school portraying student life at liberty. The hallway was bare of artwork, and the university wanted student art to add life to the space.

For our concept, we chose to create a collage of 71 students. 71 is a prominent number at the university, because the school was founded in 1971. Me and my group members took photographs of students all over campus until we reached 71 faces. We then edited the images in photoshop to create the desired effect, before importing the images to illustrator and converting them to paths. The people were then segmented into individual squares and colored. The squares and people inside have a roughly complementary color relationship, with colors of the people being darkened as needed. The final image was chosen to be displayed in the hallway, and will be over nine feet long.
